Red Demon

Browsing through a halloween store, I found a really cool looking demon biker helmet. I liekd it so much I decided to design a whole costume around it so that i would have a chance to wear it.

Since the helmet was about the same red color as my hair at the time, red became the governing color of the costume.

For once I didn't do a lot of sewing, but rather put together various items of clothing. The tights were purchased at a sports store, and the shirts at Hot Topic. The leather jacket was second hand, and the burning skull motif was hand painted by myself with model paints straight on the jacket. The skirt was also purchased second hand, and cut up into a jagged ripped look. The boots are big heavy suckers, purchased in store in L.A.

I created long crooked false nails out of sculpey, painted and varnished. I had Victor make me a set of double fangs, and for the first time I tried special effects contact lenses.

The first version of the make-up was meant to look like a part of my skull, as if the flesh had been ripped off around my eye. I created the latex applicance myself, and it came out great. It would have looked cool, had I been willing to glue one eye shut, which I wasn't. So my own eye made it look rather unrealistic. So for subsequent versions of the costume I have either just worn red make-up or other home-made latex applicances which are more like demonic bumps.
